Itinerary
Day
1: Divine Darshan and Sacred Footsteps
Upon arrival in Shirdi (via flight to Shirdi Airport or train to Sainagar
Shirdi), check into your hotel and freshen up. Head straight to the Sai Baba
Samadhi Mandir for Darshan. It's advisable to book your Darshan or Aarti
pass online in advance to save time. After seeking blessings, visit Dwarkamai,
the mosque where Sai Baba spent a major part of his life, and see the sacred Dhuni
(perpetual fire) that he lit. Continue to Chavadi, where Baba used to
sleep every alternate night, and the Gurusthan, the spot under the Neem
tree where he was first seen as a young ascetic. For lunch, experience the
humble yet delicious meal at the Sai Prasadalaya, one of the world's
largest solar-powered community kitchens. In the evening, take a stroll in Lendi
Baug, a garden Baba watered daily, and light a lamp at the Nanda Deep.
End your day by attending the evening Dhoop Aarti or night Shej Aarti
(if booked) or simply meditate in the temple complex before enjoying a pure
vegetarian Maharashtrian dinner at a local restaurant like Ahimsa - The
Vegan Cafe or Madhuban Saattvik.
Day
2: Heritage, Shopping, and Departure
Start your second day with an early breakfast of Misal Pav or Poha
at a local eatery. Visit the Khandoba Temple, a significant site where
the priest Mahalsapati first welcomed Baba with the words "Aao Sai,"
giving him the name 'Sai'. If time permits, you can visit the Sai Heritage
Village, a theme park that recreates the Shirdi of Baba's time with
life-size statues and village scenes, offering a glimpse into the past. Before
you leave, head to the bustling markets near the temple complex. Shop for
religious souvenirs like Sai Baba idols, sacred Udi (ash),
devotional books (Sai Satcharitra), and photos. Don't forget to buy the famous Shirdi
Prasad (Boondi Ladoo) and dry fruits to take back home. With your heart
full of devotion and peace, proceed to the airport or railway station for your
return journey.
